A 'misunderstanding'? ????

In Mississippi, a local high school faces backlash for changing its class ranking system after two Black girls were named Valedictorian and Salutatorian.

Ikeria Washington and Layla Temple were named West Point High School's valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2021.

However, on graduation day, school officials added one more valedictorian and another salutatorian. Both of those students are white, which has sparked criticism from parents and alumni on social media

In a Facebook post addressing the concerns, the West Point Consolidated School district explained the two methods to determine a student's class ranking: GPA and QPA.

They also said:
"The West Point Consolidated School District feels it necessary to recognize all four seniors at graduation. We apologize for any confusion and problems this has caused. The school district takes full responsibility for this misunderstanding."
